Lesley's Bio:

"I have been a member of Banbury Hockey Club since 1976 and, after many years as an active player, I am now a member of the Committee, holding the posts of Umpire Secretary and Disciplinary Officer.

During my playing career, I was a regular member of the Ladies 1st XI and had the honour of being appointed vice-captain and then captain. I also acted as Social Secretary, and Membership Secretary. After having my children, I returned to play with the ladies second team.

I also played mixed hockey with both the Alcan and Banbury teams, and was a member of the Banbury team competing in the Northampton Mixed League.

After stepping down as a player in 1997, I started umpiring and then took on the role of looking after the club’s lady umpires.

The amalgamation of Banbury Ladies with the Banbury Men’s Club, saw me take on the post of Umpire Secretary for both sections. This means working closely with the Fixture Secretary, the Junior Coordinator, captains and BHC umpires, as well as liaising with league officials and the Oxfordshire Hockey Umpires Association.

I act as the club’s contact point for umpires appointed to the club’s M1, M2 and L1 matches, organise umpires for all the other teams and arrange umpires for Junior matches and Festivals.

As the club’s Disciplinary Officer, I liaise with the County Disciplinary Officer and the relevant committee members.

For many years, I have been a member of Oxfordshire Hockey Umpires Association and currently hold the role of Membership Secretary.

We have great umpires at the club, but we need more. I would encourage club members to take the Rules Test on the England Hockey as a first step."
