Men's 5s Vs. Buckingham - Saturday 21st January 2023

BHC Men's 5s - 2, Buckingham Men's - 2

In the only game to take place today at NOA, Ady lamb took captaincy for the 5s against Buckingham in their mid-season friendly.

Starting off strong, Josh Perry had the opener, putting Banbury on the front foot over 'out of their league' Buckingham. A strong all round performance saw the 5s hold their lead up to the half way point, with Lewis Mack continuing to distribute chances from the middle of the park.

Attacking play was in plentiful supply with Archie Holmes and Fin Claydon working very well on the left side. Banbury weren't always in control, but the oncoming counter attacks were controlled professionally as per by the likes of Ady Lamb, Luke Williams and Thomm Russel.

As the second half arrived the integrity of Banbury's defence did come undone as Buckingham scored two in fairly quick succession. A word of thanks however to Jamie Lamb who saw off plenty of oncoming shots, keeping the 5s in the competition. This particular performance earned him todays Player of the Match. Congratulations Jamie!

Tom Smith and Rob strand continued to work effectively on the right hand side, and along side them, Banbury rallied to try and equalize. At the now frozen attacking end, proceedings became difficult with no shortage of slidy-affairs, but eventually a wonderful team play, involving the greater majority of the team saw Rob Strand as the key man, slotting one home to equalise.

A big congratulations to the 5s today, for what turned out to be a sterling performance against an upper league team. Lots of positives all around the pitch and a draw to be proud of. Next week the Famous Fives return to their own league to hopefully hand it to near unbeaten Aylesbury!
