Year Appointed: 2015

Year Joined BHC: 1978

Karen's Bio:

"I have been a player and member of the club for over 4 decades.  I joined the club in 1978 and have played every season only missing a very limited number of games,  despite mentioning I would retire over the years I am still playing in the 2nd team and must have notched up lots & lots of games over the last four decades of playing for the ladies and a really competitive mixed league in the early years!

Over the years I have:- run 100 club to raise funds for the club / held the post of vice-chairman at BHC and most recently I took over as  Membership secretary around 2015 from Laura Davis (who is one of the committee members that makes the club what it is today ) my role entails administration -  keeping a log of our playing and paid-up members each season, answering any queries etc and hopefully promoting a welcoming & friendly impression of our club.

The latest platform we use Spond is making this task a lot easier and removed hours of admin.

I have witnessed lots of changes and improvements during my time namely Banbury ladies: entering and competing in the first organised oxon league matches; Banbury Mens & Ladies uniting to form Banbury Hockey Club; and more recently it has been good to witness the number of teams competing across all sections of the club ….. along with the investment in coaching and growth of the junior section which would not have been possible without the dedication of the many people who have worked so hard over many years.

Personally, I have been happy to serve on the committee in various roles over the years.
I am passionate about our club, which has not only been a big part of my sporting and social life and many others too.

I am always inspired by the commitment of the other committee members past and present who have done and continue to do so much for our all or club members."
