U14 Boys Development League Triangular Match 28/02/2016

On Sunday 28th February Banbury hosted a 7-a-side boys under 14 league match, with visiting sides Old Silhillians and Hampton-in-Arden travelling to the NOA to play.

With our regular keeper, Aiden Slark, out with a wrist injury, James Marshall bravely donned the kit and had a fantastic game, making many impressive saves.
The rest of our squad consisted of Samuel Baldry, Ben Clarke, James Speck, Felix Webb, Ethan Bissett, Hayden Moore, Jacob Bucker-Rowley, Sam Chadbourne and Theo Campbell.

First up was Old Silhillians. Banbury took an early lead courtesy of Ben Clarke, but Old Sils broke back to take the lead 2 – 1 by half time.
Some silky individual skills saw the final score become 5 – 1 to Old Sils. However, the score line belies the feel of the match which was fairly even.
The second match between Old Sils and Hampton-in-Arden saw Hampton victorious at 6 – 1, during which time Cath gave our boys some short corner coaching which they were able to put into practice in the next game.

The final match of the day between Banbury and Hampton-in-Arden saw some really solid team play by Banbury with noticeable improvements in marking, free hits and short corners (including some goal-line saves).
Sadly the strength of the opposition was too great for us to break through and the match ended 8 – 0 to Hampton.

Despite the losses our relatively young side all played really well, with some good team play and support for each other.
Thanks to Jim and Emma for umpiring all 3 matches, and to Natalie and Amanda for feeding us all afterwards.
