Mens4 vs Cheltenham 20th September 2014
The mens 4’s took on a young and quick Cheltenham side, who were well organised from the start. The defensive four of Colin, Alex Phil and Frank, were put under constant pressure from the start. The forwards pressed hard and the midfield played high, making it difficult for the Banbury side to get out of their own 16. A string of short corners lead to the inevitable break through. Cheltenham put the ball in the net three times in the first half, with one disallowed for an infringement. Frank Lambert spent a short period of time in the sin bin, as did Alex Whitmore. The two Richards, new to hockey, played positive roles and are welcome additions to the squad. Kit made some fantastic saves and made life very difficult for the Cheltenham forwards. There was plenty to learn from this game, with the opponents playing at a higher league standard.
