Men’s 4th XI

Dear Members,

It is with great sadness and a lot of consultation with our members that the “4th XI” will not be running this year. There are two reasons for this.

Firstly, we have record numbers of members but the lack of regular availability in the whole of the men’s section from 1st XI – 4th XI last year put pressure on all captains and we could not field a 4th XI every time we were meant to.

Secondly, no one was willing to take on the responsibility to select a team, arrange match teas and collect match fees. My thanks go to Adam Bailey and Stuart Ralph who did this last year under difficult circumstances.

Vets hockey, is vital to offering the opportunity for club hockey to be played regularly and my thanks goes to Gary White for arranging these fixtures, as well as the Vets, the U14 boys age group hockey has become more significant in growing our players from 13 upwards.

We will be reviewing this decision again next year and will always aim to offer regular competitive opportunities for our members. Please get in contact with me directly over the phone if you have a view on the future of the club as well as this decision.

Yours Sincerely,

Richard Hobley (Men’s Club Captain) –
