Ladies 3 match report 14th Feb 2014
Henley Ladies 3s 4 v 2 Banbury Ladies 3s
BHC Ladies 3s risked relationship break ups as the headed down the motorway for 4.30 away match in Henley on Thames on Valentine’s Day, however they were not rewarded for their club and team commitment as the they came away with no points from the match. Banbury opened the scoring early as Julia Campbell played in Hailey Mitchell for a one on one with the Henley keeper, Mitchell kept her head and coolly slotted the ball past the keeper and inside of the far post. However Henley were not to be thwarted and scored two goals to take them ahead by half time. Banbury tried to reinvigorate themselves with a half time talk vowing that they did not want to leave this match with nothing to show for it – how futile their objections would turn out to be. Henley scored again through a second short corner conversion. This seemed to put the bit between BHCs teeth and they showed much zeal as they tried to get back in to the game – a great slap shot from Maisy Bird, on her third team debut, put Banbury back in contention. However, as they tried to press for an equaliser, Henley stole the opportunity to give themselves a further goal taking the game out of Banbury’s reach. No points, no teas and no love – all in all a terrible Valentine’s Day for BHC ladies 3s.
