Ladies 1 in dominant performance against Wallingford

  • January 26, 2015

South Division 3a
Banbury Ladies 1st – 8 Wallingford Ladies 1sts – 1

The day had a hectic start to this home fixture due to the weather and a last minute pitch change. Despite this the ladies impressed with a dominant display over Wallingford Ladies 1sts.

Banbury started strong and took an early lead when Natasha Nunneley put away a cross from Aveline Cruickshank across the circle. Wallingford reacted quickly however scoring a goal of their own to equalise. Banbury didn’t let this fluster them as they defended well to keep a pressing Wallingford at bay whilst continuing to attack and were rewarded with a second goal for Natasha Nunneley before half time to make the score 2-1 at the break.

It was in the second half however that Banbury showed what they were really made off. Some fantastic link up play from the backline through Vic Coombs, Pippa Jones and Ali Sturla in the middle to the forwards along with a few brilliantly worked short corners saw Natasha Nunneley score 2 more and Sadie Lapper 4.

As the whistle blew, with a score of 8-1, Banbury ladies could be proud of a resilient and dominant performance resulting in a well earned victory!
