Ladies 1 hit Teddington for six

Banbury Ladies 1 – 6 Teddington Ladies 2 – 0

With extensive pressure from the start Banbury sort to crack a resolute Teddington defense. It took some good attacks and a great run from Vicky Coombs and a neat flick to Lyndsey White to finish with style and panache.

Teddington immediately fought back and were given a short corner from which Becca Atkins and Coombs made great saves on the line. Banbury counter attacked with Sadie Lapper and White once again going close. Banbury continued with great play constantly putting pressure on the opposition. The second goal came from good control and passing through the midfield, seeing a great run from White to set Lapper up putting Banbury 2 0 up. The game then began to settle and Teddington began to get a foot hold in the game, putting pressure on the Banbury defense, resulting in several short corners which goalie Amy Cairns saved with ease. Banbury began to build back into the game with Coombs going close from a short corner with a trademark drag flick.

The second half started with Coombs penetrating the D and scoring a superb 15 yard shot, from this Banbury grew in confidence, passing the ball between the central defense of Becca Atkins and Juliet Gardner starving Teddington of any possession. Banbury again went close with a short corner and began to put pressure on Teddington, it was from Lappers skill that Banbury earnt a short corner. With Banbury continuing their flowing hockey Moran set Lapper to finish a neat first time shot in the bottom left hand corner. Teddington once again fought back, but Banbury were quick to put pressure on once again resulting in Coombs hitting home.

More neat play from midfield saw Lapper take on the goalie in a one on one attack to cleanly guide the ball into goal.

Banbury finished with a 6 0 win, leaving them 2 points behind league leaders, Witney, ready to make a mid-season push for the title.
