  • November 10, 2014

Banbury travelled to Birmingham to play their first 7 a side matches of the season…

Banbury U14 Girls 1 Wrekin U14 Girls 5

Our first match was against Wrekin. We made a steady start, however, unfortunately, Wrekin made a break through, and the score became 1-0. Maddie Lillis, our goal keeper made some great saves, but, the score soon became 3-0. However, when Maddie Hunt came on, the game began to change, and she made a great run up the left, resulting in an amazing goal. At half time the score was: 3-1 to Wrekin.

During the second half, Jenny had some great shots at goal, but the goal keeper was having none of it! Despite our defenders best efforts, Wrekin, scored 2 more goals. The final score was 5-1, however, this did not reflect how well Banbury played!

Banbury U14 Girls 9 Harborne U14 Girls 0

Our second match against Harborne, was a whole new game! Vicky Warlow did some great skill, which resulted in the first goal being scored by Imogen Roberts. Banbury continued attacking and Maddie Hunt scored, making it 2-0. Vicky Warlow scored the next 2, and the score soon became 4-0. Jenny then came on, and scored a great goal, making the final score for half time, 5-0.

Harborne didn’t have goal keeper, so Vicky Warlow stepped up and went in goal for Harborne. Grace King, who had been making amazing runs for Banbury, offered to play for Harborne, and we started playing 9 a side! Our defenders Helena Roberts, Rebecca Perkins, and Emma Warlow, were having no prisoners, even as the match evened out! They made great tackles and passes. Maxima scored the first goal of the second half. Emma Warlow went up front and it soon became sister rivalry between Emma and Vicky Warlow! Emma had several brilliant shots at goal, but Vicky was more determined than ever and even stopped one in the air!

Grace King did some great runs down the right side which created a lot of work for Helena Roberts and Rebecca Perkins, but Harborne didn’t quite score. Maddie Hunt scored her third goal of the day, and it was now 7-0. Imogen Roberts scored the 8th and Franziska Bucher scored the last cracking goal! The final score was 9-0 to Banbury.
