Banbury Ladies 4s – 1 (Evelyn Wealsby)
South Bucks Ladies 2s – 0

After several encouraging performances this season, which have ended without reward, Banbury finally recorded their first win. Banbury started the game positively putting pressure on the South Bucks defence from the start, resulting in the award of a short corner. However, Banbury were unable to make the most of these opportunities early on, with the South Bucks goalkeeper making some good saves. It was not all one way traffic, with South Bucks quick to break on the counter attack forcing the Banbury defence and goalkeeper to make some strong clearances. A period of renewed Banbury pressure finally told with a succession of short corners, one of which was converted by Evelyn Wealsby with a fine strike from the top of the area. Banbury went into half time with a deserved 1-0 lead.

Banbury continued to dominate possession in the second half, although South Bucks had their opportunities to equalise. Banbury’s defence played well with clear communication between all players, marshalling the opposition to suppress any attacks. Banbury held on to record a much deserved first victory of the season.
