It was a lovely autumnal day – perfect for hockey. Banbury were keen to turn some reason good performances into 3 pointers. The game started with Banbury absorbing some early Windsor pressure, accumulating with a Windsor short corner that cleared. After which the game opened up into an end to end affair. Although, there were few chances at either end as both teams struggled with their final touch. Windsor slowly managed to gain an upper hand in half and break outs into the Windsor half became rarer. A succession of Windsor short corners were eventually cleared by Banbury with some robust and heart and mouth defending. However, it was Banbury that could of gone into the break one up as after a quick break down the right hand side and a lovely cross into the D Banbury found themselves one on one with the keeper only to see the effort ping back off the woodwork and unfortunately Banbury were unable to convert the rebound.

So 0-0 at half time Banbury fought well to try and get something out of the game. However, chances were few and after another rebound from the woodwork it didn’t seem like it was going to be Banbury’s day and a later sucker punch came when Windsor bustled the ball over the Banbury goal line to take the points. Banbury will be disappointed to come away with nothing but after recent performances the results are coming. With a week off next week Banbury have a fortnight to regroup and refresh before the next challenge.
