Banbury Junior Hockey Festival a great success

  • December 8, 2014

On Sunday 7th December, Banbury hosted its second festival at NOA.

We saw a wealth of talent from across the county, with all teams having a thoroughly enjoyable experience thanks to the organisation of the event, the weather and of course the many hockey matches played.

There were 28 teams in attendance and we saw 109 goals scored in just under 6 hours which equates to a goal every 3.5 minutes on average.

In the u8 age group, 9 teams competed (2 from Banbury, 3 from Bicester and 4 from Wallingford). Each team participated in 4 games lasting 8 minutes each and scored 37 goals between them.

In the u10 age group, 10 teams competed (2 from Banbury, 3 from Bicester, 4 from Wallingford and 1 from Witney). Each team participated in 5 games lasting 8 minutes each. The goalkeepers from each team all played well in keeping the goals out, but despite this the teams still scored 43 goals between them.

In the u12 age group, 9 teams competed (2 from Banbury, 3 from Bicester, 2 from Wallingford and 2 from Witney). Each team participated in 4 games lasting 10 minutes each and the keepers managed to keep the goals down to 29.

Thanks go to all the coaches and managers for getting their teams to the pitches in plenty of time to allow the smooth running of the day. Also thanks goes out to all the Junior Committee for organizing the event and the many volunteers who helped out on the day.
